When purchasing a typical 4 wall cubby house there are 5 things you should look for:
1
Must have ventilation to allow hot air to escape – Should also have insulation to keep the area cool in HOT a summer
2
Must be big enough to allow parent interaction and also make sure you can check what is inside – Who knows what your children are playing with?
3
Must have at least 2 entrances to allow easy access and so more than 1 child can play in cubby house
4
Make sure you can add to the cubby house so children can develop both gross and fine motor skills. This will also allow your cubby to grow with your children no you get value for money
5
Challenge your child with climbing walls, swings, monkey bars, trapeze swings, flying foxes, slides and many other accessories. This will allow the children to be active and enjoy the outdoors and keep them outside instead of in front of the TV or Computer.
Remember most cubby houses are all about role playing which is great but we believe role playing can be done anywhere – On a deck, In their bedroom or play room in a clean environment.
Ventilation – While traditional Cubbies have a colorbond roof with no insulation, a Skyfort has a UV treated Canvas Canopy allowing not only free flowing air throughout the playground, thus reducing the risk of dehydration and heat stroke, but also preventing exposure to harmful UV radiation.
Skill Development – With a Skyfort playground your children will be developing all the necessary skills to lead a healthy adult life. Traditional cubbies are good at developing basic social skills. However, for a much broader and more balanced learning experience a Skyfort playground will develop your child’s Gross and Fine motor skills on top of developing social skills.
Size – A Skyfort is designed with Mum and Dad in mind. We know that what your child wants most is to play with you on the swings or in the Skyfort, to help enable this, all of our Skyfort designs are large enough that the parents can get up and play with the kids in comfort in the fort, not around it, but in it.
Pests – The obvious concern for all parents is pests and vermin getting in. Unfortunately the traditional 4 walls and colorbond roof style cubby house is notorious for attracting and providing homes for all sorts of pests as a result of the amount of dark spaces it creates. The Skyfort, with its open design, and off the ground flooring, minimises the amount of dark spaces, and therefore the habitat, that all things nasty love to live in.
